My Journey on The Master Cleanse Diet

The Master Cleanse diet has been a popular cleanse for years.  While it's meant to be used as a detox aid, many use it to simply lose pounds fast.  I am one of those.......well sort of.  I've been drinking a lot and eating out almost every night.  Recently I've been feeling like crap lately, depressed and little to no energy.  I also gained 30 pounds over a 6 month period which is just not acceptable to me.  So I weighed myself this morning at 153 pounds and realized something had to give.  I decided to do The Master Cleanse so I could jump start my weight loss by detoxifying my body of toxins.  I am also hoping this will help me transition easily into vegan eating  but we will see about that.  For now it's purely to cleanse and lose weight.  So I plan to do this diet for at least 10 days.  If I'm happy with the weight loss I will slowly add raw foods in but if I'm not then I'll continue on it.  I went to the grocery store and bought 10 lemons to start (I'm assuming this will only last me a few days).  I also bought peppermint tea which I googled and it seemed to be allowed.  At night you have to either take a laxative or drink "smooth move" tea.  I plan to do the tea later tonight.  In the morning you must drink 32ounces of water mixed with sea salt.  This will stimulate your ass-plosion so make sure you are by a toilet within an hour after drinking it.  I've heard the "bowel movement" can be uncontrollable so stay home until you're done.  So far today I've been drinking 16 ounces at a time of pure spring water mixed with two tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice from fresh lemons and 1/10 tablespoon of cayenne pepper.  So far so good.  There were two moments in the day where I felt like I wanted to grab something solid to eat but I realized it was just a "craving moment" and I wasn't actually hungry.  So it's now 3pm and I haven't had a single thing to eat all day.  I don't feel sluggish or light headed.  I'm worried because I read that day 2 and 3 are the worst and that's when I will probably want to quit the cleanse.  Until tomorrow!!!!!

*****UPDATE

LOL so my time with the master cleanse has ended.  It was a short run but it's almost impossible to stick to.  Instead I went to whole foods and lost 3 pounds in one day eating this:

I make a salad daily of sprouts, tofu, bulgar, smoked salmon, raw mushrooms, onions, peppers and cabbage.  I don't put any dressing on it just a dash of olive oil.  It's really really good.  Even my co-workers were jealous and wanted some.  It's totally filling and under 100 calories for it all!  Then when I get home I make sure to have a sensible dinner and try to keep it low carb.  So far this is working well for me.  I also have started running again during my lunch hour.  I find it hard to work out after work because by that time I'm tired and unmotivated.  I run the same route each day and I time myself with the stopwatch on my phone.  I make sure each time I run that I beat the time it took me from the previous day.  Another great motivator/weight loss tool is to watch the Bodyrock videos.  You can find them on Youtube or at http://www.bodyrock.tv/ the workouts are short but super intense with little resting periods.  Kinda like the Intensity workout but it's free!
