How to get rid of spider veins

  • Laser treatment seems to be the best way to combat spider veins, although expensive. Depending on where you go it can cost anywhere from $200-$500 per session and one session is never enough. When you experience a laser treatment session your face is penetrated by laser. The laser causes your spider veins to shrink and disappear. I wouldn't necessarily say it is painful but there is a little discomfort. I had noticed spider veins appearing on my cheeks and around my nose. It started looking like I had a skin rash or rosacea because they were so red. I opted for laser and it took me 5 sessions before I saw results. It's been over a year and I would say my spider veins are 80% cleared and am experiencing no more redness. My recovery was also immediate. I made my appointments over the weekend in case I experienced bruising but there was none.

Over the counter topical treatments that boost vitamin k can also work. A daily dosage of vitamin K vitamins can also prove beneficial. Vitamin k is generally used to treat discoloration of the skin like bruising. The topical cream goes deep in your pores targeting the spider vein and

helping to heal the tissue. http://www.dermstore.com/articles/article_1.htm. I have tried many vitamin k products including the expensive ones before I turned to laser. The one I found to work the best was one of the cheapest. It is called Vita-K Super Vitamin K Solution for Spider Veins. It's $12.99 and can be purchased at many drugstores. You are supposed to apply it twice a day which I did. I noticed my spider veins lighten up in less than a week. I used it for about another week before I did the laser treatment. The bottle says to give it 6 weeks, but I couldn't wait that long. Now that my laser treatment is over, I use the Vita-K cream as a preventative method.

There is also another treatment called Sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy can range from $100 to $300 per session and again, multiple sessions are required. Sclerotherapy involves a tiny needle that is injected directly into your spider vein. I've heard that it is a painless procedure and is performed by a plastic surgeon. Just like laser it will depend on how bad your spider veins are to determine how many sessions you will need. The recovery time is not like laser treatment. You are bandaged like having plastic surgery and recovery time usually takes about a week.
